Ohio University Southern shares the rich heritage and educational resources of the first university established in the Northwest Territory. As a regional campus of Ohio University, the Southern is proud of the quality, value, and convenience that are inherent in every facet of the campus.
Ohio University Southern is as unique as each individual who is a part of the OUS family. Providing the education and service associated with a major research university, while maintaining the individual attention and personal touch associated with a small exclusive college, OUS offers a "Degree of Difference."
Ohio University Southern takes seriously the needs of a diverse student population. Our student body includes those who enroll directly from high school, adults returning to the classroom, and individuals with a broad range of experiences. Students include those who live in the local area, those who came to this area to become OUS students, even students from foreign countries. Course schedules are designed to meet the needs of this diverse population and include classes during daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The Eastern Lawrence County Center in Proctorville provides additional course scheduling opportunities for OUS students.
Student activities also reflect the various interests of the campus community. Athletic teams, honor societies, and student organizations are only the beginning of the opportunities for campus involvement. OUS also offers a student literary magazine, concert series, mixers, and equestrian events.
Student involvement extends beyond the campus to include the local community - and the world! Through community service and service learning courses, students develop an understanding of community and recognize that the community extends far beyond the Tri-State. International activities, including educational exchange programs, provide OUS students a chance to broaden their horizons.
Ohio University Southern provides a world of opportunities!
