Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program in which a student that has excelled in a course (called an SI Leader) offers group instruction for that course outside of the regular class time.
SI Leaders attend class sessions so that they are up-to-date on the topics that are currentlybeing addressed in the course. The SI Leader then offers “supplemental” instruction sessions once or twice during the week that students can attend on an as-needed basis. Supplemental Instruction provides students with individualized attention but is more formal than group tutoring because sessions are intentionally designed to address those issues currently being covered in class.
The schedule for Supplemental Instruction will be announced in class within the first week of the quarter.
Supplemental instructor is provided at the request of or in conjunction with the instructor.
