One of the most unusual clubs on the Ohio University Southern Campus is a group known as Los Amigos Internacionales, which means "The International Friends". After the International Awareness Program began at the Southern Campus, students and faculty wanted a group where they could share international insight and enthusiasm. The Los Amigos group was born.

Open to anyone, the club is especially appreciated by OU Southern students, faculty, and staff. The focus of the club includes three categories. First, Los Amigos want to learn more about cultures of the world. We want to improve world relations through understanding and sharing. Second, the group wants involvement in international events on campus and in the community to gain practical international experience. Third, the club promotes international projects which ahve lasting impact on our world.

Los Amigos provides manpower and resources for international events on campus. They collect various types of books and ship them across the border to university libraries in Mexico. (This program is called "Books Across the Border"). Los Amigos enjoy meetings, parties, and dinners with international themes.

Los Amigos Internationales means "the international friends" in Spanish. You could use any language to say the name of this club because we are the friends of the cultures of the whole world. Members seek to understand people - not judge them. We seek to communicate and share with all the people of the world. This is a club that believes that the world provides a window in which we see and learn more about ourselves as we look and experience the cultures of others.

Los Amigos provides opportunities for the members to sit down and talk and share with ambassadors from other countries. The club hosts international meals where we can taste cuisine from other countries. We like festivals, fiestas, and festivities. International trips are planned and many club members take affordable journeys into new worlds. Los Amigos offers any student, staff, faculty, or community the opportunity to join forces with others to make our world a better place through communication and understanding. During a year members of Los Amigos: Enjoy international dinners, meet international artists, hear international speakers, greet international visitors, host international VIPS, plan international celebrations, have monthly meetings, and deliver books internationally.
