Provide drop-in support to students by answering general campus related questions or directing them to appropriate programs and services. Assist students with accurate, helpful information and referrals. Be an ambassador of Ohio University Southern on campus and sometimes in the community.
Provide advising in a manner that supports and encourages informed academic decisions.
Guide students in accessing academic resources available at OUS and provide referrals.
Perform daily tasks assigned by supervisor or Student Services Director.
Check your campus mailbox every day you are on campus for new updates and announcements.
Stay knowledgeable regarding campus deadlines, events and information.
Assist with payments, printing DARS, and other customer service task.
Act as informed resource for all students regarding matter related to registration,advising, and activities.
Assist with planning and conducting New Student Orientation.
Other duties as assigned.
· Instructor or staff recommendation.
· G.P.A. 3.0 or higher.
· Sophomore or Junior status.
· Capacity for discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
· Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.
· Possess good organizational skills.
· Adhere to University policy and FERPA regulations.
· Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
Minimum wage 20 hours a week during regular school year up to 40 hours a week in the summer.
Peer advisor applicants will need to be able to work some evening hours and on Saturdays 8 am to 12 noon, additional hours flexible.
