1. How do PSO students register for classes?
Fall Quarter registration occurs during Orientation
1) Students not attending orientation may register via high school counselors before classes begin.
2) Registration for subsequent quarters must be completed by mail-in registration from high school counselors to OUS registrar's office.
2. What classes are available to PSO students?
Any course in which pre-requisites are met by student.
3. How do students *Drop/Add courses?
Drop/Add may only be facilitated through an interactive process between high school counselors and the OUS registrar's office.
PSO students may not drop/add without knowledge and permission of high school counselors.
4. How many classes should a PSO student take at OUS?
Subjective response/depends on student's goals.
5. How do students receive textbooks?
Students can purchase textbooks at one of the three available bookstores. Picture ID required. Book vouchers are available through the OUS Registrar.
6. Do PSO students in good academic standing ever pay for courses?
Yes, if a student does not drop a course(s) before the drop date, and fails to attend that course(s), then payment for the course(s) may be demanded by the local high school district/board.
Although it is rare, some students prefer Option A and are willing to pay for courses to protect GPA's at the high school level- Option A courses count only for college credit.
7. How will students receive final grades per quarter?
Students receive final grades at home in the mail… Counselors receive academic reports on HSO students from OUS on a quarterly basis.
Students usually receive grades before counselors.
Counselors receive grades from OUS one week to ten days later after grades are mailed to students.
Counselors must add OUS grades to high school grades for a complete file on each PSO student.
Spring Quarter grades do not reach the high school prior to graduation- PSO students should not take required courses for graduation during Spring Quarter- electives would not affect graduation.
8. If a student moves from Option B to Option A- can that student be reinstated to Option B?
University College in Athens, Ohio has stated "No student in Option A for probationary reasons will ever be reinstated to Option B.
Regardless of academic improvements, once a student moves from Option B to Option A because of poor grades- its permanent!
