How to Register for Winter Quarter

Students No Longer Need RAC Numbers

Students use Course Offerings and My OHIO Student Center shopping cart

Registration and advising for winter are different from past terms. Some parts of the process will be familiar, but others are brand new and deserve a look before your priority registration time arrives.

Course Offerings: No change

Finding available classes works the same as past terms.  Use Course Offerings and make a note of the class numbers for the courses you want.  You'll need those class numbers to load up your shopping cart (see Using the Shopping Cart below).

Priority Registration Advising holds instead of RACs

Instead needing a RAC to register for fall classes, you need to meet with your advisor and ask him/her to release your Priority Registration Advising hold. Departments that do group advising will be able to release multiple students' holds at once.
The system processes these holds in real time, so as soon as your advisor releases your hold, you will see that reflected in the "Holds" section of your Student Center.

Finding your enrollment time

Enrollment appointments no longer appear on the top of your DARS printout.  Instead, you should log into the My OHIO Student Center on the Academics tab of
My OHIO
and look for the Enrollment Dates box.  Click on the "details" link to see your registration time.

Using the Shopping Cart

This is a brand new way of registering for classes at OHIO, so make sure you know what to do before your priority time arrives.
The basic process goes like this:

  1. Get the class numbers for the courses you want using Course Offerings.
  2. From the Academics tab of My OHIO, log into the My OHIO Student Center.
  3. Click Enroll and enter the class numbers from step 1 into your shopping cart.  You can do this before your enrollment appointment if you like, but you still have to come back and finish the transaction at your assigned time.  The process is not automatic!
  4. Once your enrollment time arrives, go to your shopping cart, click Proceed to Step 2 of 3 to review your classes, then click Finish Enrolling.

The Registrar has a handy set of step-by-step instructions, or you can watch a video overview of the process.
If you have questions, you can e-mail registration@ohio.edu.
