Ohio University students, staff and faculty may borrow circulating materials (general collection books and audio visuals) by presenting a valid Ohio University identification card. Reference materials and periodicals do not circulate. Students associated with OhioLINK institutions may borrow materials with proper identification. The loan period for circulating materials is 3 weeks, with one renewal.

Reserve materials are items placed "on reserve" by faculty members for specific courses. Reserve items are kept behind the Circulation Desk. The loan period for Reserve materials varies according to the instructor's specifications: closed reserve (library use only), overnight, 3 day and 1 week.

Overdue fines are ten cents per item/per day for general collection items. Fines for overdue Ohiolink materials are 50 cents per day. There is a $50.00 charge by Ohio Link for items that are more than 30 days overdue.

The limit on the number of items you can borrow depends on what the materials are and where they are housed. For all intents and purposes, there is not a limit on the number of items that students, faculty and staff can borrow from the general collection.

Before Due Date
Patrons may renew books before the due date by doing one of three things:

1. Ask at the circulation desk
2. Online - View Your Circulation Record
3. Over the phone: 740-533-4622
4. Call toll free : 1 800 626 0513 (ask phone attendant for southern library)

After Due Date
Patrons may renew books after the due date by bringing the book into the library and rechecking it out.

*Note: Items which have been recalled or on hold for another patron, or are needed for course reserve, cannot be renewed.

Returning Materials

Inside Book Drop
The inside book drop is located at the Circulation desk.

*Note: Any books borrowed through OhioLINK, even those borrowed while at another campus, may be returned to the Circulation desk.

After Hours Book Drop
The After Hours Book Drop is located in the the second floor hallway outside the library.
