CLASS LIST

**Dog Obedience-Puppy Kindergarten:  Leslie Milleson
This class is for puppies 2-6 months of age.  The owner and puppy learn the basics of dog obedience at a more relaxed pace .  Sit, stay, come, lie down, and good manners are the focus of this puppy class.  Since puppies have short attention spans, there are more play and social interaction in this course.  Positive reinforcement, praise, and play are stressed along with good parenting.  Please do not bring the dog to the first session.

**Dog Obedience-Sub Novice:  Leslie Milleson
This is an on-leash course for owners to learn how to train their dogs 7 months and older.  All the basics are covered: sit, stay, come, stand, lie down, and heel.  This class is based on positive reinforcement and working on getting your dog’s attention and trust.  Puppy kindergarten is not required.  Please do not bring the dog to the first session.

**Dog Obedience-Novice:  Leslie Milleson
This course moves forward in the obedience training to off-leash work.  This is done with all the commands.  The Sub Novice class is required, or you must have permission from the instructor.

**Street Smarts for Women:  Zachary Wilds
More than 600 women are raped or sexually assaulted every day! Women need to be prepared.  Take this course to ensure that those statistics don’t include you. This course will teach you how to avoid, detect, and react to situations.  Be confident and powerful.  For women only!

**Facebook 101: Randy Bazell
Are you interested in starting a Facebook page, but aren’t sure how?  This course will give you an overview of Facebook and help you get one up and running.  Topics covered will include knowing your audience, promoting your Facebook, and posting text, video, and audio images.  You will learn Facebook etiquette and ethics, copyright laws, and much more.

**Bobcat Book Club: Michelle Dotts
When was the last time you read a classic book for anything other than a required book report?  Join friends and fellow book-lovers to discuss classic literature and walk away satisfied, challenged, and enriched.  Contribute to a class blog where members will delve further into the book in between meeting sessions (blogging is optional).  Please read “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee before the first session.

**Landscaping Basics: Brian Kelley
Learn the dos and don’ts that will make your yard a landscaping success.  Workshop will focus on appropriate plant selection, bed preparation, and maintenance techniques.

**PED 1206:  Bowling
This is an introductory course for the beginning bowler.  Basic fundamentals and mechanics of bowling will be covered.  Emphasis is placed on good technique and learning game rules and scoring.

**PED 1001: Aerobic Conditioning-Kickboxing
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. In addition, students will gain a working knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of the spirit, history, safety, and etiquette of kickboxing.

**PED 1208: Archery
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness through their lifetime.  Students will gain a thorough, working knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of the spirit, rules, history, safety, and etiquette of archery.

Course Date/Time: March 15th, 5:30-7:30 pm on OUS campus; March 22nd, 10:30am-5:30pm, TBA; and March 29th, 10:30am-5:30pm, Vesuvius Longbow range.

**PED 1224: Fundamentals of Canoeing
This course introduces basic flat water canoeing skills and knowledge in order to enhance personal enjoyment of the outdoors and sound safety practices.  Students learn through direct experience, discussion, demonstration, and reflection.

**PED 1201: Fundamentals of Tennis

Students will be graded based on knowledge and participation.

**PED 1202: Fundamentals of Golf
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. In addition, students will gain a thorough working knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of the spirit and rules, history, safety, and etiquette of golf. Students will be graded based on knowledge and participation.

**REC 1080: Fundamentals of Rock Climbing
This course introduces students to the knowledge and skills needed to safely and enjoyably participate in the sport of rock climbing. Topics include, but are not limited to, terminology, top rope site management, safety systems, and movement related to rock-climbing. Students will also learn to apply the principles and practices of Leave No Trace to minimize environmental impacts related to rock climbing.

**REC 1150: White Water Rafting
This course is an Introduction to white water rafting that includes techniques and equipment used by raft guides for professional outfitters. It emphasizes safety, enjoyment, and skill acquisitions for new paddlers of inflatable craft. It introduces and trains paddlers in the basic elements of river reading, white water safety considerations, and paddling techniques.
