This Ohio University Leadership Project (OULP) cohort involves a group of secondary administrators who meet on a regular basis to listen to and engage in discussion with experts regarding selected topics that are relevant and timely to the operation of their schools.
The participants also share solutions with each other regarding pressing secondary issues. The overall, bottom-line objective of the cohort is to help the principals to be able to provide leadership focused on successful student learning. The cohort is rather self-directed in that the principals provide an enormous amount of input regarding the topics, speakers, dates, and locations for the seminars.
Recent seminars have included the following topics. They are:
(1) leadership and effective approaches to change,
(2) learning, teaching, and observation/evaluation,
(3) legal issues,
(4) legislative matters, particularly state and federal regulations pertaining to secondary schools, |
 |
(5) special education issues,
(6) state operating standards
(7) state-wide approaches and practices for the operation of effective secondary schools, and
(8) the Ohio Graduation Tests. |
