Academic presentations at professional conferences often are the catalyst for academic publications in scholarly journals. Immediate feedback from colleagues and the opportunity for social networking are key components of a successful campaign to publish from research. Using research effectively in the classroom leads to "better teaching" and more "relevant dialogue" among class participants. The process of publishing requires dedication and devotion to one's discipline as well as the patience to endure hardships and obstacles -- in the end it will be worth the effort.
